Constructed three 16-page pamphlets to test cutting, punching, and threading accuracy. Initial freehand methods caused misalignment; use of a punching cradle resolved spacing and threading issues. Established consistent hole placement, improved thread tension, and confirmed cradle use as essential for uniform stitching.

Learned
Pamphlets 1 and 2: Punched holes freehand. Misaligned holes affected uniformity and placement, making threading more difficult. Resolved in Pamphlet 3 by using a punching cradle.
Pamphlet 2: Initial cuts were imprecise, requiring additional edge trimming. Thread tension was uneven. Addressed in Pamphlet 3 by measuring carefully and pulling thread parallel to the spine at every step.
Punching Cradle: Essential for uniform hole spacing. Freehand is possible in a pinch, but the cradle’s consistency and clean awl penetration made threading smoother and eliminated needle hang-ups.
