Template #3 for the 9×12×48 mm cover was completed with improved squareness, consistent ruler-edge alignment, and refined spacing logic. Punch and awl behavior on chipboard was tested to evaluate material limits, and the template’s suitability for advancing to hardened substrates was assessed through practical trials.

Thanks to experience share from the previous Template streams, Template #3 is markedly more accurate (square) than #'s 1 and 2.
Ruler Utilization
If I was inclined to use the edge of the ruler, I built a habit of moving to the next large increment, in many cases, the 10mm line. If the ruler's edge isn't square, this is a good way of finding out at minimum. It seems like a good practice regardless.
Punch Utilization
In the picture, far-right head station, you'll see two larger holes. These were made to test the leather punches ability to cut through this material , to make a uniform 2mm. As expected, this was not the way. I used a 2mm Awl instead which came with its own caveats with this particular material. It puckered in the back much more than it pierced. *Solution? * If a template is deemed fit for the next phase of hardening, I'll use thin wood and drill uniform holes.
Material
I'm reluctant to say this material worked well. Adequate-to-function will suffice. I don't see this holding up over prolonged usage. But as a substrate to test and phase-up to hardened templates; yah, it works.
